Lee

Lee Roy Selmon's story is a mix of football scholarships for his family and service for the community. In the first place his parents raised him by Lucious and Jessie Selmon on their Eufala farm. He was the smallest of nine kids. He played second in football and was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. All three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy was named the most offensive lineman in the nation by Outland Lombardi, the Outland Awards. Over the course of his three years as the starting line-up Oklahoma was 32-1-1 and secured two national championships. On his third scholarship, he was named an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon graduated with a degree of education. Fourth Service in college Lee Roy devoted ten hours each week on volunteer work. In Tampa, he played for the Buccaneers nine seasons and became an all-pro. Additionally, he started a career in business. In 1988 he became an account liaison officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also involved with these organisations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. No wonder that In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of America's the top 10 most promising young men. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265lbs when his college football career began. He was a captain in 1975. led the team. He became the associate director of athletics at the University of South Florida, in 1993. It was the College Football Hall of Fame honored him in the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame, in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. He and his parents Lucious and Mary Selmon Sr. received the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor who presented this award.
